92 points Wine Spectator: "Pretty date, caramel and hazelnut husk notes meld nicely, showing good cut through the ginger- and toasted sesame–infused finish. Starts frankly sweet and ends with mouthwatering cut. Drink now. (7/31/17)"

90 points Wine Enthusiast: "The Madeira regulations say that 10-years old is the age of the youngest part of the blend. So this richly sweet Malmsey contains many older wines. These are shown in the old gold color, the proper citrus acidity and the dryness that goes with wood aging. At the end, though, the liquid honey flavors are dominant. (12/15/08)"

Roy Hersh (Sommelier Journal): "An outstanding value, this is my house Madeira. Maple color with a defined yellow edge. Aromatics belie the wine’s age, delivering intricate nuances of beef bouillon, sea air, roasted nuts, lemon, and caramelized sugar. Sweet, with bracing acidity and flavors of butterscotch, lemon zest, and pralines. A delicious, complex midpalate yields to a finely tuned, lingering aftertaste. Although reasonably priced Madeiras often lack the richness and unctuosity of more expensive bottlings, this wine delivers a smooth, viscous, refined mouthfeel. (Jun 2008)"
