95 points Falstaff: "Deep, dark ruby with an opaque core, brightening at the rim. Closed dark berries, a little tarry, and blackberry. There's a fleshy density on the palate, and tannins with good-natured, stemmy undertones. It is restrained in acidity yet has enough juiciness behind the striking structure. A ripe, full Boyd with hefty alcohol, that is rich in ageing potential, and, this year, more on the side of density and power than elegance. (5/24/17)"

94 points James Suckling: "Love the perfumed and sweet aromas with cinnamon, nutmeg and blackberries. Medium to full body, firm and silky tannins and a flavorful finish. Shows depth, finesse and tension. Needs some time to show its true self. Better after 2023. (1/19/19)"

92 points Andy Howard, MW (Decanter): "Owned by the Guillemet family since 1932, Boyd-Cantenac is a third growth Margaux, on 17 hectares of well-drained, sandy siliceous gravels with very little clay influence. Luscious and rich in texture, this has fine, ripe tannins, dark berry fruit and lots of freshening acidity. A very good vintage for Boyd-Cantenac, this will age up to two decades. Drinking Window: 2022-2037. (11/30/21)"

92 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Admittedly, a slight roasted woodiness still dominates a rich and demonstrative nose, but on the palate the substance explodes, ripe balanced, full and flavorful. There is great potential here. (2019)"

91 points Jeff Leve (The Wine Cellar Insider): "Fresh with dark red berries, smoke, earth and forest floor notes, this wine has firm tannins, which need at least five years to further soften and develop. (4/29/17)"
