92-94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Volnay Santenots 1er Cru, which comes from the lieu-dit of Les Santenots Blanc and comes from just 0.09-hectare. It has a well-defined and focused bouquet with a mélange of red and black fruit laced with sous-bois and blood orange. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grainy tannins, superb backbone, real density and focus on the finish. Just a shame there is a paltry single barrel of this Santenots. Drink: 2025-2045. (Dec 2021)"

91-94 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "From the Santenots Blancs, a dry corner but featuring very old vines. Just one barrel. Dark purple, a much cleaner nose than the Ronceret, mouth filling dark raspberry fruit, with a strawberry touch too. A very good, satisfying example with the fruit entirely covering the structure. (Nov 2021)"

93 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "There's only one barrel of the 2020 Volnay 1er Cru Les Santenots, one of the richer, more brooding wines in the range. Unwinding in the glass with notes of cherries, blackberries, vine smoke, spices and forest floor, it's medium to full-bodied, ample and muscular, with lively acids and sweet, powdery tannins. (1/31/23)"

92-93 points/'Fine+,' Steen Öhman (Winehog): "The Volnay Santenots is a delightful wine in the making – there seem to be many beautiful Santenots from 2020. It’s both forward and generous, yet it’s not lacking depth and complexity, and will provide excellent drinking over the years. It comes from the sub-terroir Santenots Blanc. Drink from 2035. (2/9/22)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "(From Santenots Blanc – ‘When grandfather bought it, it was indeed planted to white but eventually he decided to change’). Plenty of colour from this tank sample. A fuller nose – lots of aromatic energy here – it’s very lovely! A cool freshness to this wine – quite wide and very mouth-watering. A wine with some power but never heavy. That’s a good one! (1/19/22)"
