91-94 points/'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "A notably ripe nose has a mildly roasted character to it yet there is still good freshness to the poached plum, cassis and softly spicy aromas. There is equally good verve to the succulent but punchy and delicious flavors that are decidedly compact and tightly wound today on the impressively long and austere finish. This is very Taillepieds in the sense that it's borderline strict, yet the underlying components are present for this to be superb one day. Drink: 2034+. (Apr 2021)"

91-93 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "From Bouchard's 45 ares of domaine holdings, the 2019 Volnay 1er Cru Les Taillepieds wafts from the glass with notes of cassis, plums, raw cocoa, woodsmoke and warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly muscular and concentrated, it's structured around supple, powdery tannins and lively acids. This is very promising. (Jan 2021)"

90-93 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Gorgeous concentrated purple, with plenty of energy to the nose. The 2019 Bouchard Taillepieds shows rich fruit, just the right side of cooked for me, more tannins here, but a significant density of dark fruit all round. (Nov 2020)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "Plenty of colour here. A large-scaled nose of spice and tons of interest, faintly floral too – a great nose. Mouth-filling, complex – here’s a great balanced wine, faintly grained, a wine for keeping. Radiating with waves of finishing flavour. That’s super. (12/31/20)"
