A brooding and very somber nose only grudgingly reveals its aromas of lightly spiced plum, earth and dark berries that are trimmed in much more subtle, if not invisible, wood. The dense, serious and overtly powerful flavors possess outstanding concentration and even though the very firm tannins are borderline chewy there is so much extract that there is a velvety texture to the explosively long, balanced and harmonious finish. This premier cru is more potently concentrated, even as the bright red cherry depths glow with a lithe tension.
