The wine’s sense of space and scale must be experienced to be believed. Then some last steps - thousands of steps - along a stony path... yet the final impression is light and delicate. 97 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "Frédéric Weber explained his parcellaire approach to Chevalier, where the house has an enormous 2.33 hectares (in addition to their La Cabotte holding): the upper terrace has a tight energy and lighter body, with a suggestion of citrus fruit 'beaux amers'. The next terrace down delivers wine with a hint of mandarin orange. The penultimate terrace gives a richer, more substantial wine with ripe apple aromas, while the lowest terrace gives the most powerful wine that almost resembles the honeyed density of Bâtard-Montrachet. This truly "complete" Chevalier extends up the four terraces, each contributing something different to the blend. The result is always a thrilling wine. The perfume is rich with banana bread, fuzzy peach peel, delicate spring flowers and crushed chalk. The palate is surprisingly broad, dense and mouthfilling—surely a nod to the stress the vines endured, but it is not at all plump. The immense concentration is sublime. (2024)"
