96 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "Frédéric Barnier is content that Bouchard performs the harvest for this purchased fruit from Pierre Damoy, and he harvests these toward the end of the vintage. Bouchard has the same 80 ares every year. The nose has an inviting rose petal lift while the palate fills with sturdy black fruits. The mouthfeel has a lightly firm, custard-like density surrounded by smooth and lightly chewy tannins. High-toned oak delicately scents the long finish. 2025-40. (2022)"

94-96 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Opening in the glass with a rich bouquet of wild berries, cassis, orange rind, rich spices, loamy soil, black truffles and toasty new oak, the 2020 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru is full-bodied, ample and seamless, with a rich, enveloping core of fruit, ripe tannins and lively acids. Concluding with a long, resonant finish, it's a terrific wine in the making. (Jan 2022)"

95 points Bruce Sanderson (Wine Spectator): "This round, supple red focuses on the fruit, with cherry and strawberry notes, plus floral and spice accents. Shows a solid base of tannins, which lend support and gain presence as this winds down on the finish. Tips toward the tannins, and is less forthcoming than many 2020s at this stage, with plenty of energy and fine potential. Best from 2027 through 2048. 40 cases imported. (3/1/23)"

92-96 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Purchased grapes, but from the same plot each year and Bouchard can choose when to harvest, which was 29th August in 2020. Dark colour, 30% whole bunch, a suave intensity of fruit, very backward, not overdone, with a little coconut sweetness alongside the dark raspberry. It is a little too massive to display its quintessential elegance yet, but I think that lies beneath and will come out after racking. There may yet be more of an up-side to my conservative score. (Nov 2021)"

93-95 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from purchased grapes). Moderately generous wood and menthol fight somewhat with the exuberantly spicy black cherry liqueur-like aromas that are cut with lovely floral wisps. There is excellent concentration to the bigger-bodied and more powerful flavors that are blessed with ample amounts of sappy dry extract that does a fine job of buffering the firm tannic spine shaping the complex, balanced and hugely long finale. Excellent. Drink: 2035+. (Apr 2022)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "(Almost 1 ha under the wood – so higher vines. Harvested the same day as the Chapelle). A little less colour. A more structured nose – compartmentalised – mineral, floral and there’s fruit too. Extra mouth-filling freshness, perhaps energy too. Really more happening here than with the Chapelle – great finishing too – for the next dozen years you will probably enjoy the Chapelle more – but this is great and will last even longer. (Dec 2021)"
