Bonhomme/André Viré-Clessé Vieilles Vignes 2020

As its name suggests (Vieilles Vignes = old vines), this comes from vines that have an average age of 80 years. 100% Chardonnay, part is aged in stainless-steel and the other part in oak before being blended together and aged for another year in larger barrels. The aging and vine age give this wine a concentration, elegance, and complexity that belies its' price point. Very clean and pure on the nose with aromas of lemon, pear, quince, wildflower honey, and a hint of salinity. The palate has racy acidity and minerals balanced by a hint of wood on the back palate. The farming is 100% organic and the winemaking has a very minimal touch utilizing indigenous yeast, light filtration, and low sulfur.
