The palate is well balanced with sappy red berry fruit, fine acidity with that pastille leitmotif returning on the elegant and pure finish. This Volnay is refined and approachable, but I suspect it has the legs to give 15-20 years of drinking pleasure. Drink: 2023-2040. (Jan 2021)"

There is a definite smoky character imparted by the François Frères barrels, but it is not exaggerated. The wine does not have the slightly heavy chocolate character that I found in the producer's village-level Volnay, while the texture is silky and firmer than some of the other wines in the portfolio.
