99 points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "This is the flagship wine from Tenuta di Biserno. It represents a special selection of grapes from within the estate's Bellaria vineyard that is planted to the same Bordeaux varieties used to make the Biserno. The 2016 Lodovico is an exceptional expression with enormous depth and a contemporary taste profile that weighs concentration and power against the careful precision of the varieties used in the blend. The results are sharp and focused, allowing for detailed renditions of blackberry and plum followed by elegance, spice, toast and chocolate. The tannins are sweet and carefully integrated within the rich fiber of the wine. Tenuta di Biserno has found its stride. Drink: 2020-2045. (May 2019)"

99 points Falstaff: "Shiny, intense ruby-red-violet. Shows great complexity on the nose: coriander seeds and cardamom, very clear, backed up with lots of blackberry. Full on the palate unfolding with supple, densely meshed tannin, building up in many layers, dark berry fruit and savoury on the finish. (8/29/19)"

After many years of identifying the best Merlot, Cabernet and Petit Verdot parcels within the boundaries of their Bolgheri estate with the support of the famous oenologist Michel Rolland, the Antinori family discovered in the early 2000s that in the midst of this microclimate and terroir there was an even more special small vineyard whose results once again surpassed those of the larger area. It was immediately clear to all involved that this unique character had to be vinified and highlighted separately -- this was the birth of today's cult wine Lodovico.
