92 points and 'Cellar Selection,' Wine Enthusiast: "[$33 list] Beronia has blended modern and traditional touches to create a fine gran reserva with spice, vanilla, coconut, tobacco and dried berry aromas. The palate offers ripe tannins and kick, while the flavor profile is earthy, with mocha, coffee, chocolate and dried berry flavors. A long, lightly toasted and chocolaty finish provides a fitting end to an excellent wine. Best from 2015-2022. (Oct 2013)"

91 points Wine Spectator: "[$33 list] This harmonious red is dense and lively, with plum, licorice, smoke and mineral flavors supported by moderate tannins and fresh acidity. Not assertive, but showing drive through the floral finish. Drink now through 2018. (9/30/13)"

90 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "[$33 list] Ruby-red. Ripe cherry and blackcurrant aromas are complemented by nuances of woodsmoke, pipe tobacco and vanilla, with a hint of peppery spices adding lift. Sweet and velvety on the palate, offering sappy red and dark berry flavors and suggestions of vanilla bean and mocha. This round, seamless Rioja finishes with very good cling, fully integrated tannins and lingering smoke and spice notes. Drink: 2015-2021. (Nov 2015)"

90 points Wine & Spirits: "[$33 list] Fully mature, this has the sweetness of age, along with scents of fennel and spice. Its complexity runs on volatile acidity, adding a leathery note and aromatic lift to the flavors. Juicy and firm, this is ready to drink with roast lamb. (Dec 2015)"

90 points Peñín Guide to Spanish Wine: "(92% tempranillo, 4% mazuelo, 4% graciano). Colour: pale ruby, brick rim edge. Nose: fine reductive notes, wet leather, ripe fruit, expressive. Palate: spicy, elegant, long, balanced. (2014)"

Producer notes: "92% Tempranillo, 4% Graciano, 4% Mazuelo. Deep maroon red color. Intense and prolonged aromas with notes of black fruits and sweet spices such as cinnamon and vanilla over a base of balsamic and mineral. On the palate, it is elegant, meaty and structured. The fruit stands out with notes of mint and cocoa over a base of tobacco. A lively wine with a fresh and long palate. Ideal with red meats, game and cheese."
