96+ points Jeb Dunnuck: "Readers looking for the best of the vintage should check out the 2013 Châteauneuf du Pape Hommage A Jacques Perrin as it has more fruit, texture, and density than anything else out there. A classic blend of 60% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache, and 10% each of Syrah and Counoise, it has a cooler, classic, mineral-laced style as well as ample blue and black fruits, scorched earth, new leather, and ground pepper aromas and flavors. Inky colored, full-bodied, concentrated, and powerful, it needs a solid 7-8 years of bottle age and will keep for 25+ years. Drink: 2027-2052. (6/14/19)"
96+ points Wine Advocate: "The 2013 Châteauneuf du Pape Hommage a Jacques Perrin is a beast of a wine that’s shed most of the baby fat it showed from barrel. A normal blend of 60% Mourvèdre, 20% Grenache, and the rest Syrah and Counoise, this tiny production release has incredible minerality to go with searing black and blue fruits, forest floor, smoked earth and leather. Full-bodied, inky, concentrated and backwards with a serious kick of tannin, it will need a decade of cellaring to be approachable. I suspect it will have 2-3 decades of longevity. Drink: 2025-2055. (Oct 2015)"
95 points Josh Raynolds (Vinous): "[$699 list] Dark purple. Ripe cherry, dark berry liqueur and candied licorice on the deeply perfumed nose, lifted by a smoky mineral quality. Broad, sweet and seamless on the palate, offering deeply concentrated black and blue fruit, floral pastille and spicecake flavors and a subtle touch of dark chocolate. Shows superb energy and focus on the finish, which is given shape by slow-building tannins and sharpened by a jolt of juicy acidity. The interplay of power and finesse is quite impressive. Drink: 2022-2030. (Apr 2016)"
95 points Matt Walls (Decanter): "Six years after vintage, this is just starting to take on some secondary development: a little earthiness to the berry fruits. Full-bodied, quite a muscular, butch year for Hommage. Distinctly tannic and the acidity is marked - this will take time to soften, you could decant and drink with a steak now but wait if you can until around 2023; there is better to come. Impressive length, but the tannins are really quite grainy. Drinking Window: 2023-2042. (12/17/19)"
95 points Jeff Leve (The Wine Cellar Insider): "Showing an earthy, wet forest, truffle and black cherry nose, the wine is rich, fresh, pure and spicy. There is volume, concentration, complexity and energy. Give it time and this should be even better. The wine was made from a blend of 70% Mourvedre, 10% Syrah, 10% Grenache and 10% Counoise. (Sep 2016)"
