94 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): "Brimming with cherry fruit, this is charming, but there’s also a spicy depth that adds a lot to this medium-bodied, creamy German pinot noir. Then the fine tannins kick in and propel this with emphatic energy. Long, velvety finish with some grilled artichoke character that creates a lovely tension. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold. (8/20/24)"
93 points Stephan Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): "H.O. Spanier's 2022 Hohen-Sülzen Kirchenstück Spätburgunder GG has a ruby-red color and rises from the glass with intense, open, slightly smoky and delicately toasty but also salty and iodine-like fruit of dark, concentrated and baked cherries and berries. Silky, elegant and full of finesse on the palate, this is initially a light-footed, elegant and delicate, persistently salty and even zesty Pinot from limestone soil. It is dry, firm and grippy, very intense and young, but despite its substance, it is salty and uplifted in the long-lasting finish. One can only hope that its impressive substance will take hold of the oak over the years in the bottle. Tasted at the Vorpremiere VDP.Grosses Gewächs in Wiesbaden in August 2024. Drink: 2028-2040. (10/31/24)"
