Producer notes: "The southern Wonnegau was already known in the Middle Ages for producing grape varieties that had no chance in the other German wine-growing regions. Pinot Noir has always been one of them. We mature our Pinot Noir estate wine in 3 to 4-year-old barriques. This adds an earthy spiciness to the delicate fruit of Pinot Noir. We make sure that the grapes are never overripe. This allows the wine to retain its freshness, coolness and straightforwardness. On the nose, the wine exudes aromas of red berries and some cassis, the dark fruits are underlaid with fine herbal aromas. On the palate, the wine is juicy and refreshing, absolutely dry and finishes with a fine spiciness."
