92-95 points/'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a .19 ha parcel). More deeply pitched but extremely fresh aromas include those of poached plum, cassis, earth and a lovely array of spice elements. There is outstanding mid-palate density to the bigger-bodied and more powerful flavors that also possess a beguiling sense of underlying tension on the driving, focused, complex and beautifully balanced finale. This is terrific with excellent development potential. Drink: 2032+. (Jan 2022)"

94 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "It has now been a dozen years since the Gruenchers arrived in the lineup at Domaine Barthod and it has become one of my favorite premier crus here since that day. The 2020 is truly a stunning wine, offering up a pure and complex nose of plums, red and black cherries, raw cocoa, lovely spice tones, gamebird, a gorgeous base of soil, vanillin oak, gentle spice tones and a floral topnote redolent of violets. On the palate the wine is deep, pure, full-bodied and already quite suave on the attack, with a plush core of fruit, beautiful soil signature, fine-grained tannins and a complex, impeccably balanced finish. Great juice. 2033-2090. (Nov/Dec 2021)"

92-94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Gruenchers 1er Cru has another winsome bouquet with vivacious Morello cherries, wild strawberries, hints of blood orange and violet, as if there was a soupçon of Vosne here. The palate is medium-bodied with fine backbone, fine grip and a little granular in texture, perhaps just attenuating slightly towards the finish. Still, this is very fine. Drink: 2025-2042. (Dec 2021)"

91-93 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "A little deeper purple and perhaps darker in fruit profile. Mixed plum and dark berries, with some weight of fruit, and a fine crunchy finish, while the tannins are very fine-grained throughout. (Nov 2021)"
