94 points Tim Atkin, MW (Decanter): "Gruenchers is located in the northern half of Chambolle-Musigny not too far from the lower corner of Bonnes Mares on chalky soils that produce what Ghislaine Barthod describes as an 'ethereal' wine. Aged in one-third new wood, this is a wonderfully drinkable, harmonious Premier Cru red with raspberry and redcurrant flavours, some chalky minerality and lacy tannins. Drinking Window: 2024-2032. (10/20/18)"

91-94 points/'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a .19 ha parcel). A mentholated top note can be found on the black cherry jam, spice and plum-suffused nose. There is fine volume to the rich, sleek and caressing middle weight flavors that possess outstanding depth and length on the dusty finish where the only nit is a touch of warmth. Impressive. Drink: 2030+. (Jan 2020)"

93+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2018 Gruenchers chez Barthod is another absolutely superb wine. The bouquet is deep, pure and sappy, offering up notes of plum, red and black cherries, a touch of cocoa powder, woodsmoke, pigeon, a complex base of soil, mustard seed, vanillin oak and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full and classy, with great delineation and intensity of flavor, plenty of backend mineral drive and a long, ripely tannic and beautifully balanced finish. This is gorgeous Gruenchers in the making, but it will need a full decade to start to really blossom! 2028-2065. (Nov/Dec 2019)"
