96 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Very full-bodied Les Cras, with dense flesh and ripe, lively fruit, still compact but without severity, this wine is a ball of energy with a shimmering limestone presence on the finish. (2024)"

94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Richer and broader than Les Veroilles, the 2021 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras mingles notes of cherries, plums and red berries with hints of exotic spices and potpourri. Medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, it's layered and textural, concluding with a long, discreetly carnal finish. Drink: 2027-2051. (Jan 2024)"

94+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2021 les Cras from Madame Barthod is as beautifully sappy as any of these premier crus this year, but shaded more towards the black fruity side of the ledger. The nose offers up scents of black cherries, plums, pomegranate, violets, dark chocolate, a gorgeous base of chalky soil, pigeon, woodsmoke and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, very complex and sappy at the core, with great backend mineral drive, lovely balance and grip, tangy acids and a very long, complex and seamless finish. Great juice. 2034-2085. (Nov/Dec 2022)"

92-94 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "A good even density of crimson. The nose suggests fair density but does not want to give detail. Solid and really quite fine on the palate, the most classical structure of all the cuvees, the wine that suggests it will need longest to come round. Racy finish, with fruit, tannins and acidity all in good balance. Drink from 2027-2034. (Nov 2022)"

91-94 points/'Sweet spot/Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a .85 ha parcel). An exuberantly spicy nose freely displays its cool and pretty aromas of plum, black cherry and violet. The moderately rich and impressively intense larger-scaled flavors possess excellent volume as well as an almost pungent minerality that adds a sense of lift to the markedly austere, compact and built-to-age finale. This could use more depth, but the Barthod Les Cras always seems to age extremely well. Drink: 2031+. (Jan 2023)"

91-93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru has quite a stern nose, plenty of mineralité and terroir expression here, a mixture of red and black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly candied red fruit on the entry, brown spices, hints of liquorice towards the finish with fine persistence. Promising, though it needs to gain a little more weight. Drink: 2024-2038. (Jan 2023)"
