94 points Tim Atkin, MW (Decanter): "Chatelots sits below Les Feusselottes on clay-limestone soils close to the village of Chambolle-Musigny. Showing a little more oak influence from 25% new wood than most of Ghislaine Barthod's reds, but it has the structure and tannic backbone to cope. Bright cassis and cranberry fruit are embellished by chalky minerality. Needs time to lose its slight reduction. (10/20/18)"

91-93 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Mingling notions of cherries, plums and red fruit compote with sweet soil tones and spices, the 2018 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Chatelots is medium to full-bodied, lively and precise, its bright spine of acidity and powdery tannins cloaked in an incipiently textural core of fruit. Barthod elected to include only the fruit from the domaine's old vines in this cuvée, declassifying the rest into the Chambolle-Musigny Village. (Feb 2020)"

91-93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Chatelots 1er Cru is matured in 20% new oak. It has a splendid bouquet of dark berry fruit and sous-bois aromas, plus a pinch of sage in the background. The palate is grippy and more sinewy than the Combottes, with fine salinité toward the persistent finish. It might lack a little finesse at this stage, but I suspect it will age well. Drink: 2024-2044. (Jan 2020)"

90-93 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Fractionally darker in colour than Ghislaine’s Aux Combottes, with an evenly balanced fruit. Plump raspberry with a hint of mulberry, then a coulis of concentrated red raspberry behind, good acidity, all very well integrated. (Nov 2019)"

92+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "There is a change in the bottling of Châtelots in 2018, as the domaine decided that only the production from the oldest vines in their parcel (ages fifty to sixty years) would go into the premier cru bottling, with the younger vines in this plot being blended into the Chambolle AC this year. The result is more depth and sappiness at the core from the old vines, with the nose delivering a fine blend of red and black cherries, plums, raw cocoa, limestone soil, gamebird, violets and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and nicely plush at the core, with fine transparency and grip, fine-grained tannins and a long, promising and potentially velvety finish. This will be excellent in due course. 2026-2065. (Nov/Dec 2019)"
