91 points Wine Spectator: "The final months of maturation in Port pipes drape this aged Speyside whisky with additional complexity. Look for raisin, peach and a dry nuttiness on the nose, with a silky palate of berry fruit, honey, cream and gentle spice. (10/31/19)"
Its unique barrel aging, floor malting and labor intensive craftsmanship make this one of the most sought after single malt scotch whiskies. A perfume nose of fruity and ripe raisin notes, backed by a nutty dryness. It is creamy and silky with fruit, honey and spice notes, and has a long and gentle nutty finish. Matured in traditional oak casks for 21 years, then transferred to fine port wine casks, where it is sampled monthly by the Balvenie Malt Master, who ensures that just the right amount of character is imparted to the spirit. This process enhances and develops the single malt, while preserving its original characteristics.
