98 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "Exuberantly aromatic with sweet black plums, forest berries and violets. Juicy and vinous, this has vivacious, refreshing acidity and succulent, seamless tannins. The two-thirds new oak offers light espresso tones. The panache is bewitching. This is equally intellectual and pleasurable. One of the wines of the vintage. (2025)"

97 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2023 Charmes-Chambertin “Vieilles Vignes” from Domaine Bachelet was one of the finest young red wines I tasted on my entire trip. The bouquet is deep, youthful and so very promising, offering up scents of cassis, sweet dark berries, grilled meats, coffee bean, woodsmoke, a beautifully complex base of soil tones, currant leaf and cedary oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and shows stunning depth of sappy black fruit at the core, with excellent soil signature, ripe, fine-grained tannins, seamless balance and a very, very long, pure and precise finish. This is still a baby and will need a long time in the cellar, but it is going to be pure magic once it is ready to drink! 2040-2100. (Jan/Feb 2025)"

95-97 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2023 Charmes-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru comprises eight and a half barrels this year (there are just three in 2024). Crisp and poised, it has life-affirming clarity on the nose, gently unfolding with predominantly black cherry and raspberry fruit, a hint of salted licorice lingering in the background. The palate is so silky on the entry that you are beholden from the first sip, but there is immense structure behind this Charmes-Chambertin. Perhaps I would have liked a little more red fruit and Pinoté on the finish, but this is certain to evolve magnificently in bottle. Excellent, as usual. Drink: 2030-2060. (Jan 2025)"

94-96 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "The Charmes-Chambertin has an exceptionally dense colour, black at the centre with a purple edge. Very dense floral black and red raspberry with a good lacing of oak. Absolutely fills the middle of the palate, with a luxurious long finish. Plenty of refined tannins here too. Still building, Denis thinks all the wines need more elevage, and I would agree that the Charmes most certainly does. (Nov 2024)"

94-96 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Bachelet's 2023 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes is fleshy and gourmand, bursting with aromas of cassis, cherries, orange zest, licorice, rose petals and creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy, it's broad and unctuous, with a sweet core of fruit, ripe tannins and a long, expansive finish. (1/30/25)"

93-96 points/'Don't miss!' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a .44 ha parcel of 90+ year old vines situated directly across from Chambertin to the west and Griotte to the north; the yields are so low, and the vines so exposed that Bachelet says that he always harvests this parcel first). A cool, airy and slightly more elegant nose features notes of ripe and ultra-fresh red and dark berries, spice, forest floor and floral top notes. The beautifully textured medium-bodied flavors possess a lilting yet powerful mouthfeel while delivering stunningly good length on the balanced, compact and built-to-age finale. This could use better depth but that should just be a matter of exercising a bit of patience. In a word, superb. Drink: 2035+. (Jan 2025)"
