The nose offers up scent of black cherries, black raspberries, bitter chocolate, dark soil tones, plenty of smokiness and a topnote of violets. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and impressively soil-driven for its appellation, with a good core, a touch of backend tannin and a long, classy finish.
