98 points James Suckling: "This is a little riper on the nose than the 2006, with a light raspberry and blackberry jam character combined with a vanilla latte. Full bodied and juicy, with broader shoulders and round tannins. This is powerful and rich, with loads of ripe tannins and fruit. This is all about layers. Don't touch this until 2015. (2/15/11)"

98 points Wine Enthusiast: "Profoundly beautiful aroma on this Cab, a perfect union of oaky char and vanilla with ripe blackberries and cassis. Hard to exaggerate the beauty. Powerful, yet never pushy, with classic Napa balance. Rich, sweet, almost meaty, with massive tannins that are refined and smooth. Very great density and weight. Really defines the vineyard, and should age effortlessly for 20 years. (Jun 2011)"

95 points Stephen Tanzer (International Wine Cellar): "Good full ruby-red. Vibrant aromas of deep black raspberry, licorice and violet; quite expressive considering it was bottled about a month prior to my visit. Then dense, deep and very primary, with powerful yet suave flavors of blackberry, smoke, licorice, minerals, chocolate and earth spreading out to saturate the palate. An infant today but the wine's superb persistence and finishing perfume suggest it will rank among the best vintages of this bottling. If there is ever a classification of Napa Valley cabernet vineyards, the Eisele Vineyard would clearly be a grand cru. (May/Jun 2010)"

94 points Jeff Leve (The Wine Cellar Insider): "Clearly not a wine of power, this is all about the elegant nature, soft tannins, balance, lift and vivacity. There is a purity to the fruit that shines though, along with touches of toasty oak, licorice, smoke and black fruits. This is ready for prime time drinking today. (Aug 2019)"

18.5/20 points Jancis Robinson, MW: "I tasted the blend that was due to be bottled last November and was struck by the delicacy of the winemaking, or do I mean the wine? Very perfumed and subtle. Gentle in texture. Very fresh, very persistent with a finish that was defiantly dry rather than sweet. There was a reference to 'Matt's Pinot Noir-like winemaking' ... Impressive and distinctive. Not the standard Napa Valley recipe. (7/16/09)"

Stephen Brook (The Finest Wines of California): "Dense nose with unusual power. Fleshy and weighty, with sweetness of fruit and considerable structure; sumptuous but still elegant and long. (2011)"
