98 points Tim Atkin, MW: "[13.3%] Huilkrans comes from Jozua Visser's Oudam farm, located at 450 metres in an isolated spot on Citrusdal Mountain, sometimes called the Skurfberg. Planted between 1974 and 1978, the vines are all dry-farmed, producing yields of almost painful paucity. Fermented in old barrels before ageing on lees for 12 months, this sings with what Chris Alheit calls a baritone voice. Green fig, lime and greengage flavours are complemented by a ferrous undertone and a stony finish. 2025-2035. (2024)."

96 points '#7 in Top 100 Wines of South Africa, 2024' James Suckling: "Still very youthful, this has notes of white pears, papayas, oranges, wild herbs, pomelo and oyster shells. It’s medium- to full-bodied, focused and flavorful as well as deep and mineral, all tied together with tension and acidity. From old-bush vines on Skurfberg (Citrusdal Mountain). Drinkable already but better after 2025. (10/25/24)."

93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2023 Huilkrans comes from dry-farmed Chenin Blanc in the Citrusdal Mountains. This has a very stony bouquet, perhaps the most austere amongst Alheit's cuvées this year. It’s very minimalist in style. The palate is taut and fresh, revealing orange pith and a touch of mango. It’s harmonious and smooth, with a dusting of white pepper on the finish. Very fine, but distant. Drink 2025-2035. (Aug 2024)."
