96 points Eric Guido (Vinous): "The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Paganelli is coy with a dark, dusty bouquet that emerges over time, mixing cedar shavings, licorice, balsamic spice, rum-soaked cherries and clove. It displays fantastic balance, with a silken feel, pretty inner sweetness and a cascade of ripe, citrus-laced red berry fruits. Fine-grained tannins amass as this impossibly youthful specimen finishes with structural heft and tension, leaving behind a tart cranberry concentration and an air of autumnal spice. The 2004 Riserva remains primary after twenty years. This might be immortal. Drink: 2028-2040. (Jan 2025)"
95 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2004 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Paganelli has also developed impeccably. Dark, ample and broad, the 2004 is built on a core of serious power. Layers of dark stone fruits, leather, spice and tobacco build into the rich, intense finish. Drink: 2016-2034. (Oct 2016)"
Brunello Riservas are released no earlier than six years after date of harvest, so the 2004 Il Poggione Riserva has just been released at the winery and we are pleased to offer it at special pre-arrival pricing. This wine comes exclusively from "I Paganelli" vineyard, the best and oldest vineyard on the estate, planted in 1964. Quantities are much more limited than the normale bottling, so we expect this to sell out quickly. First come....
