98 points Stuart Pigott (JamesSuckling.com): "Super smoky, spicy and flinty, this imposing and enveloping pinot gris is barely off-dry. Welcome to a world of smoky and textural complexity on the deep and refined palate. The power and concentration are almost as complete as the ripeness, effortlessly handling the 13.5% alcohol. Super-long, creamy and spicy finish. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. (8/8/22)"

98 points La Revue du Vin de France: "The trilogy Rangen de Thann are at the pinnacle... incomparable energy in the Pinot Gris, with its spindly, delicately toasted profile, which radiates with penetrating intensity, in which all the buttons are pushed. (2023)"

97 points Bettane & Desseauve Guide (2023).

94 points Stephen Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): "The 2020 Pinot Gris Rangen de Thann Clos Saint Urbain offers a clear and pure, smoky or flinty bouquet with dominant ripe seed-fruit aromas. Full-bodied, lush and piquant on the palate, this is a rich, luscious, round but persistently salty, enormously powerful Rangen with some burnt milk flavors on the finish. It's impressive but not not that fascinating or more stimulating than the Riesling. Bottled with 13.6% stated alcohol plus eight grams per liter of residual sugar and a natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in April 2022. Drink: 2023-2050. (Mar 2023)"
