95 points Christy Canterbury, MW (TimAtkin.com): "Delightfully scented, this offers up balsamic, evergreen, black cherries and licorice. This is supple, layered and precise with fine tannins reverberating against the lilting acidity. These vines are 58 years old on average, and the wine saw two-thirds new oak. This is the second-largest Premier Cru holding at Voillot, after Les Pézerolles. 2024-35. (2022)"

92-94 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Pommard Les Rugiens 1er Cru, matured with 25% new oak, has a tightly-wound bouquet with black cherries, raspberry coulis, undergrowth and quite a strong saline influence. The palate is medium-bodied with a concentrated opening, a mixture of red and black fruit, fine acidity with a lilting, very cohesive finish and peppery aftertaste. Closure: Diam 5. Drink: 2025-2045. (Dec 2021)"

93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "Unlike the Pézerolles, the 2020 Rugiens does not push the envelope in terms of ripeness and is another absolutely beautiful bottle in the making in the domaine’s cellars this year. The bouquet is fresh, bright and deep, offering up scents of sweet dark berries, cassis, bitter chocolate, spit-roasted venison, a complex base of soil tones, woodsmoke and a discreet framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, pure and chewy in personality, with broad shoulders, a great core of fruit, lovely soil undertow, fine focus and grip and a long, ripely tannic and tangy finish. Fine, fine juice in the making here. 2035-2090+. (Nov/Dec 2021)"

92 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from a .25 ha parcel planted in 1959). A mentholated top note can be found on the cool, pretty and layered essence of ripe red berries, rose petal and anise. There is fine volume and mid-palate density to the relatively fullbodied flavors that re shaped by a firm and bright acid spine on the balanced, youthfully austere and mineral-driven finale. This should age effortlessly and is a wine that’s going to need at least a few years of patience. 92/2030+. (Apr 2022)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "A width here, a touch of almond milk, complex, absorbing aromatics. Fuller, more layered delivery of flavour including some creamy oak in the mix. Really complex – what a pleasure! (Dec 2021)"
