The bouquet is fresh, bright and deep, offering up scents of sweet dark berries, cassis, bitter chocolate, spit-roasted venison, a complex base of soil tones, woodsmoke and a discreet framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, pure and chewy in personality, with broad shoulders, a great core of fruit, lovely soil undertow, fine focus and grip and a long, ripely tannic and tangy finish. There is fine volume and mid-palate density to the relatively fullbodied flavors that re shaped by a firm and bright acid spine on the balanced, youthfully austere and mineral-driven finale.
