93+ points John Gilman (View From The Cellar): "Jean-Étienne Chermette and his father only began producing this beautiful Saint-Amour in the 2017 vintage. The vines are just short of fifty years of age now and the wine is fermented in stainless steel and raised in the family’s ancient foudres. The 2020 les Champs-Grillés is a simply beautiful example of the vintage, coming in at a svelte 13.5 percent alcohol and offering up superb purity on both the nose and palate. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a blend of black cherries, pomegranate, gamebird, dark soil tones, peonies, woodsmoke, a touch of fresh thyme and a gentle topnote of youthful sweet stem tones. On the palate the wine is pure, fullbodied and seamless, with tangy acids, great focus and grip, a lovely core of fruit, excellent soil undertow and a long, complex and moderately tannic finish. The backend lift here is very impressive! 2021-2050. (Sep-Oct 2021)"
92 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2020 Saint-Amour Les Champs-Grillés opens in the glass with aromas of cherries, strawberries and warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, round and charming, with melting tannins and lively acids, it's a supple, succulent red that will offer a broad drinking window. Drink: 2021-2033. (Aug 2021)"
