92 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The lieu à dit of les Garants is down in the valley, near to Clos de la Roilette and also used to be part of Moulin-à-Vent, rather than Fleurie. The 2020 les Garants from Pierre-Marie and Jean-Étienne Chermette is a big boy in this vintage, coming in at a full 14.5 percent octane. The wine is deep and black fruity on the nose, offering up a sappy blend of black cherries, sweet dark berries, roasted pigeon, dark soil tones, fresh thyme, a hint of cola, gentle spice tones and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and slightly roasted in personality, with a sappy core, ripe tannins and fine focus and grip on the long, broad-shouldered and well-balanced finish that stays tangy and precise and shows no signs of sur maturité. This is a nicely concentrated young bottle of Fleurie, with more in common structurally with a Morgon, but it is nicely fresh and tangy at the same time and once it has had a bit of time in the cellar to blossom, it is going to be a fine drink. 2025-2050. (Sep/Oct 2021)"
