97 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2018 Barolo Cerequio is a new wine in this range. Soaring aromatics and bright, red-toned fruit give the Cerequio its effusive personality. Nuanced and deep, with tremendous complexity and tons of character, the Cerequio is dazzling. This is everything a great Barolo from Cerequio should be. In other words: textbook. More over, it's one of the best wines of this very uneven vintage. Drink: 2028-2048. (Feb 2022)"
97 points Luca Gardini: "From a small parcel in the classic cru of the municipality of Barolo, plants around 35 years of age. The aroma has beautiful intensity, notes of red cherry, then undergrowth, eucalyptus and a beautiful finish. On the palate balsamic and juniper notes, brackish tannins and great persistence. (May 2022)"
95 points Decanter: "2018 is the first vintage of Cequio produced by Vietti - the historical cru is one of the most renowned MGAs in the Barolo area. Following hand-picking on 5 October, and fermentation, the wine was aged in both botti and barriques for 32 months. A savoury, earthy style with rhubarb, blood orange, cinnamon and a hint of saltiness. The velvety tannins are light and ripe, accompanied by crisp acidity. This is a really elegant wine and a good interpretation of the vintage. Drink 2022-2038. (July 2022)"
94 points Susan Hulme MW (The Wine Independent): "The 2018 Vietti Barolo Cerequio is a very pretty wine with a good structure. The nose is delicate but on standing it reveals very soft red fruit - crushed strawberries and raspberry jelly. The wine has lots of very fine-grained, sandy tannins, giving it a long, lingering finish with lots of sapidity and savouriness, which slightly covers the fruit at the moment. It needs a little more time to open up. Keep for 1- 2 years then drink for 20+ years. Drink 2024-2044 (Jul 2022)."
