94 points Luis Gutiérrez (Wine Advocate): "The 2017 ROC was cropped from one of the most challenging years in Bierzo in recent times. Part of the vines suffered from frost, but this wine comes from the higher part of the vineyard; there was a smaller crop, and they pruned again, and some plants flowered up to three different times. So, they had to sort the grapes (they improvised a sorting table for the first time). It has a combination of herbal and ripe sensations, but surprisingly enough, the wine comes through as quite balanced and silky, with some tannins and a serious finish. It's a more continental vintage for ROC. This is fermented with 100% full clusters (starting with the 2016 vintage) in a 5,000-liter oak vat with natural yeasts, and it matured in second and third use 228-liter oak barrels. 4,740 bottles were filled in March 2019. Drink: 2020-2025. (Jun 2020)"
