93 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2019 Pinot Noir Mae Estate Vineyard is the first wine from Justin Willett's new estate vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills. A powerful wine, the 2019 packs a serious punch. Dark cherry, spice, leather, plum and grilled herbs are front and center. I am surprised to see just how intense and packed the 2019 is. There is a bit of reduction along with a strong stem character, both of which should integrate with time. I would give the 2019 a few years in bottle. Drink: 2024-2034. (Oct 2021)"

Producer notes: "From our estate located on Highway 246 in the north corridor of the Sta. Rita Hills and planted in 2016, the soils here consist of Elder series loams over marine sedimentary rock below. The pinot noir sits to the eastern side, and also the upper slope of the field, on the darkest, most clay rich soils on the property which are most conducive to producing exceptional pinot noir. The 2019 is dark, powerful, and brooding. Blood orange and dried cranberry lead way to beautiful floral notes. Silky and seamless tannins frame its dense mineral and fruit through a long, mouth-watering finish."
