'5 Star Wine'/92-94 points Jasper Morris, MW: "Still in barrel, unracked. Rich deep purple with a heady ripe raspberry fruit. But it is fresh, clean, mineral and intense on the palate with a lovely supple fruit backed by clean energy. Darker fruit, but significantly more weight. In fact, this is astonishingly concentrated at the back of the palate. There are plenty of tannins here, but easily enough fruit. (Nov 2020)"
91-93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin "Ostrea" comes from three parcels near Brochon, the oldest vines of the domaine, and is raised 30% in demi-muids. Deep in color, it has a concentrated bouquet of dark berry fruit, raspberry coulis and blackberry, plus tobacco and light graphite aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and pure fruit. Elegant and almost understated toward the finish, which fans out and exerts a gentle grip. I can imagine this being early-drinking, but it also has the substance to age in bottle. Drink: 2023-2040. (Dec 2020)"
90-92+ points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Derived from old vines in the commune of Brochon, Trapet's 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Ostrea offers up aromas of cherries, raw cocoa and coniferous forest floor. Medium to full-bodied, it's deeper and more introverted—and more of a long-haul prospect—than the domaine's immensely charming regular Gevrey, with a layered core and a long, mineral finish. (Jan 2021)"
