93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from .42 ha parcel in Mazis-Bas). A distinctly different aromatic profile presents itself with a patently greater emphasis on the sauvage with iron-infused earth nuances on the red and dark currant scents. The rich, bold and interestingly even bigger and more powerful flavors display outstanding length on the firm, mouth coating and beautifully persistent finish. This too is going to require at least 7 to 8 years before it will have resolved enough structure to be sufficiently interesting to warrant opening a bottle. Drink: 2026+. (Jan 2017)"

This is a very small domaine at only 11ha (all of which is biodynamically farmed). Tortochot crafts a style and quality of wine that transcends their prices. If you are a fan of the purity found in old-school Burgundy, you will love these wines. With the help of noted consultant Sylvain Pataille (of Roumier fame), Tortochot has quietly been producing traditionally-styled wines that have become the subject of much swooning by critics. The hype train is gaining steam, the wines are for real, and they present extreme value in today's Burgundy landscape.
