95 points/'Outstanding,' Decanter: "Founded in 1992 in San Vincente de la Sonsierra, the bodega now owns 50ha of vineyards, and this gran reserva is made with grapes from its oldest vines. Part of the company’s main range, named after its founder, the wine is 95% Tempranillo with 3% Graciano and 2% Garnacha, aged for 48 months in used American oak. Sarah Jane Evans MW: Round and poised, with graceful advanced age, this is suave yet serious, typical yet still appealing. Not particularly complex, nor overtly original, but still delicious – a wine for Rioja lovers. Pedro Ballesteros Torres MW: Classic aromas of red fruits, roses and forest floor. On the palate, that classic interplay of red fruits, fine oak, textured tannins and tangerine acidity. Pierre Mansour: Some real class here. Stylish bouquet with complexity and focus. Soft, rich, yet understated, showing wonderfully ripe tannins and a long finish. Wow! (Apr 2023)"

93 points Josh Raynolds (Vinous): "Limpid ruby-red. Highly perfumed cherry, red currant, smoked meat, coconut and candied rose scents, along with tobacco and succulent herb nuances that build as the wine opens up. Juicy and seamless in texture, offering energetic cherry-vanilla, floral pastille, cola and mocha flavors that are sharpened by a jolt of spiciness. Shows sharp clarity and sweet, repeating red fruit character on the impressively long, gently tannic and smoke-tinged finish, which leaves a suave floral note behind. Drink: 2022-2031. (Apr 2021)"

93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2011 Gran Reserva from Pedro Peciña is a tad riper than the beautiful 2014 Reserva, as this wine comes in at 14.5 percent octane. The wine offers up a lovely bouquet, with a black fruity blend of cassis, black raspberries, a bit of spiced meats, dark soil tones, cigar smoke, clove-like spice tones and coconutty American oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, focused and complex, with a fine core of ripe black fruit, moderate tannins, lovely balance and grip and a long, complex and classy finish. Stylistically, this reminds me of some of the great classical bottlings from the 1982 vintage when they were at a similar age. There is still some tannin here, but it is not obtrusive when served with appropriate fare today; further bottle age will see them fall away. 2022-2065. (Mar/Apr 2022)"

92 points Tim Atkin, MW: "(14.6%). More tannic and higher in alcohol than the other Peciña wines - although everything is relative in a range that's generally so smooth - this is a perfumed blend of Tempranillo with 3% Garnacha and 2% Graciano that shows a little of the heat of the 2011 vintage. Sweet red berry flavours are underpinned by grip and acidity. Give it another year. 2023-30. (2022)"
