98 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "One of the many highlights in this vertical, the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is exceptionally beautiful. Today, the 2010 comes across as refined and polished, with veins of bright acidity that give the wines its sense of energy, drive and polish. Over the last few months, the 2010 has begun to close in on itself. I can't say that is surprising given how much stuffing there is. Readers lucky enough to own the 2010 are in for a real treat. When all is said and done, the 2010 is profound and riveting in every way. Drink: 2018-2040. (May 2016)"

98 points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "Salvioni makes stunning wines that appeal to die-hard Brunello fanatics. The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino La Cerbaiole shows enormous purity, varietal personality and beautifully balanced intensity. The wine hits all of your senses at once. The bouquet offers red cherry, licorice, dried rosemary, ginger and cola. You taste the most elegant, delicate and ethereal notes that can be extracted from Sangiovese. The tannins are super fine and the texture is silky and supple. This is an iconic wine. Drink: 2018-2038. (Mar 2016)"

97 points and 'Year's Best Tuscan Reds,' Wine & Spirits: "[$226 list] Giulio Salvioni bottled the first Brunello from his family’s vineyards in 1985. His son David now works with him at their property southeast of Montalcino, farming ten acres of vineyards spread over three plots, at altitudes ranging from 1,375 to 1,445 feet. They restrict yields severely through pruning and green harvests, making only a few casks of wine each year. In lesser vintages, some of the wine may be declassified and bottled as Rosso di Montalcino; in the best years, they make only Brunello. That was the case in 2010, and the wine is stunning. Fermented without added yeasts and aged for three years in Slavonian botti, the wine reveals ripe blackberry and plum flavors layered with notes of tobacco, juicy fennel, dried herbs and warm spices. A bright line of acidity streaks through the fruit, gathering the rich and savory flavors in its wake. The wine gains intensity over several days as the tannins relent, opening up new layers of flavor and revealing a fine, mineral-inflected texture. This has long cellaring potential, but offers fascinating drinking now when decanted with wild boar ragú or grilled fennel sausages. (Apr 2016)"
