95 points Fine Wine Review: "The Gevrey-Clos St-Jacques has classic strawberry and red currant aromas and flavors with minerality and Gevrey wildness, and a smattering of oriental spice, all of great purity. This is not a powerful or heavy wine, but it is dense and concentrated with a long finish and great finesse. 2012-2032. (Issue #98; 2004)"
94 points Neal Martin (Wine Advocate): "Funnily enough, I have not tasted this particular vintage of Clos Saint Jacques from Rousseau since it was first released. In the interim, it has aged with style and is, in fact, not that far removed from the 2001 Chambertin. It unfurls in the glass with strawberry, redcurrant, minerals and delicate touches of dried rose petal, never achieving the intensity of a very top vintage, but so understated and feminine. The palate is very silky on the entry. This Clos Saint Jacques is marked by the fineness of its tannins and its harmony rather than volume, with just a hint of cured Italian meat toward the tender finish. Superb. Drink now-2025. (Apr 2014)"
Clive Coates (My Favorite Burgundies): "Good colour. Vigorous, ripe, and with plenty of energy on the nose. More austere than the Chambertin. Better on the palate. Decent substance (fuller than the 2000). Ripe, rich, the tannins mellow. Cool, long, fine, but a slight lack of charm nevertheless. Drink: Now to 2016. (Tasted Apr 2008)"
