93 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2013 Ampodium bottling from René Rostaing, which readers will recall is his blended cuvée, is an absolutely classic bottle of young Côte-Rôtie. The bouquet is bright, precise and very transparent, offering up a marvelous blend of raspberries, pepper, spiced meats, stony soil tones, woodsmoke, a nice touch of stems and a topnote of violets. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and gorgeously soil-driven, but coupled to a very sappy core of red fruit, impeccable focus and balance, ripe, moderate tannins and great length and grip on the nascently complex and utterly seamless balance. This is utterly superb and will not need too many years in the cellar to start to drink with generosity. 2020-2050. (Sep/Oct 2016)"

92 points Jeb Dunnuck (Wine Advocate): "The 2013 Cote Rotie Ampodium, which was just bottled prior to this tasting, is gorgeous. The wine is made from 100% Syrah from two top terroirs, Cote Blonde and Landonne, and aged all in Burgundy barrels; it has terrific notes of black raspberries, blackberries, crushed violets and dried flowers in a surprisingly forward, nicely concentrated, textured style that can be enjoyed anytime over the coming decade or more. Drink: 2015-2025. (Dec 2015)"

92 points Josh Raynolds (Vinous): "Bright purple. Intense floral pastille, dark berry and peppery spice scents on the highly perfumed nose. Juicy, incisive and pure, showing strong thrust and cut to the gently sweet black raspberry and cherry cola flavors. A smoky mineral quality adds lift to the floral-tinged finish, which lingers with excellent tenacity. Drink: 2020-2026. (Mar 2016)"

92 points Wine Spectator: "A lively, herb-accented style, with rosemary, savory and bay leading the way, followed by a lightly mulled core of raspberry and blackberry fruit. The finish lets light olive and white pepper notes chime in for added range. Leans toward the old-school side of the style spectrum. Best from 2017 through 2027. 90 cases imported. (9/30/16)"
