94 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2020 vintage has produced a beautiful bottle of Combottes from the Trapet family and I have to agree with the younger generation here that it would have been a shame not to bottle this wine entirely on its own! The wine is one hundred percent whole clusters in 2020 and delivers a superb aromatic constellation of red and black cherries, black plums, lovely spice tones from the stems, gamebird, a refined base of soil, woodsmoke, cigar wrapper and a touch of cedar. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and impeccably balanced, with a sappy core of fruit, lovely soil signature, ripe, buried tannins and a long, tangy and focused finish. 2033-2085. (Nov/Dec 2021)"
93 points Charles Curtis, MW (Decanter): "Copious ripe cherry fruit, with hints of liquorice and violets. On the palate, there is a lovely sweetness to the fruit and a supple, approachable texture that should drink well young, but has potential to last. There are 0.14ha at the top of Combottes, just under Ponsot's Clos de la Roche that is planted north to south. The vines are in grèzes litées - almost sandy, alluvial scree on a very steep part of the hill next to Latricières. The grapes are fermented as 50% whole-cluster and vinified gently. Drinking Window: 2025-2040. (5/23/21)"
