This Dolcetto could hardly be from anywhere besides the estate of Giuseppe Rinaldi. In the glass it shines ruby red with a bright edge. On the nose are notes of ripe cherries and some juniper. The palate stands out for its incredible freshness, which is backed by spicy aromas. In addition, elegant berry fruit is joined by some soffee and herbs. A great pairing for hearty ham or spicy stew dishes.
The Giuseppe Rinaldi estate is one of the most famous in Piedmont. Often difficult to assess in their youth, Giuseppe Rinaldi wines are right at the top of the tree and offer one of the more traditional styles of Barolo. They are exceptionally ageworthy. Antonio Galloni writes: "As I have written many times, Rinaldi is the producer who adheres most closely to all of the tenets of the traditional school in Barolo."
Gambero Rosso: "The generations are magnificently intertwined at the Rinaldi family's winery. Beppe 'Citrico' remains its front man, literally adored by fans scattered all over the world, but it is a team that works in unison, due to the talent of his daughters Marta and Carlotta, who have long been working full time in the small cellar in Barolo. This is evident in the top vineyard selections, some of which have changed their name from the 2010 vintage onwards (Brunate and Tre Tine), but not in their terroir-true character or their style."
