94 points James Suckling: "A linear and racy Brunello for 2011 with plenty of plum, cherry and hazelnut character. Still, this always remains subtle and fine. Tangy acidity underneath. Solid Brunello for the vintage. Drink or hold. (11/21/16)"

93 points Wine Spectator: "[$100 list] Fresh and pure, boasting cherry, strawberry, floral and leather aromas and flavors. There is a sense of elegance and firm, well-integrated tannins. Fine length. Best from 2018 through 2028. 2,000 cases made, 1,400 cases imported. (7/31/17)"

92 points Monica Larner (Wine Advocate): "[$90 list] The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is a plump, dark and rich expression with a slightly evolved appearance. This wine is very interesting because it highlights the many differences between the 2012 vintage that is released at the same time of this 2011 Riserva. Both vintages were hot. General speaking, 2012 tends to show more intensity on the nose and less in the mouth. The 2011 Riserva, however, offers a lot more dimension in terms of palate. There is some bitter Sangiovese astringency as well and sour notes on the finish that should soften with more time in the bottle. That said, this wine shows more potential for long aging. Drink: 2017-2030. (Feb 2017)"

90 points Ian D'Agata (Vinous): "Good full red. Musky aromas of dark cherry, camphor and tar pick up exotic notes of blood orange and cumin with aeration. Then intense but firm edged strawberry, iron and mineral flavors on the palate that are much sweeter, suaver and brighter than those of the 2012 Brunello. Finishes fresh and long with a lingering note of minerals. This is a rare example of a Brunello estate’s 2011 Riserva being a great deal better than their 2012 Classico. Drink: 2023-2033. (Mar 2017)"
