96 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Shapely, eloquent but softly enveloped in the powerful, restrained Montée de Tonnerre, with a salivating grain and plenty of energy to spare. (2021)"

95 points Tim Atkin, MW (Decanter): "The Raveneaus have ten different parcels of Montée de Tonnerre, aged between 20 and 60 years' old and spread over a total of 3ha. Taut and pithy, with stony aromas and flavours that are almost Riesling-like, this is intensely stony, tangy and chiselled with mouth-watering acidity and hints of saffron and lime. Drinking Window: 2022-2032. (Jul 2019)"

95 ponts and 'Outstanding,' Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(from several parcels totaling 2.5 ha with two-thirds of it in Chapelot and the remainder in Pied d'Aloup). This is perhaps the most elegant and floral-infused wine in the range with its array of various white flower scents, especially acacia that are nuanced by wisps of ocean breeze, iodine and algae. The restrained and well-detailed flavors possess a sophisticated and refined mouthfeel while the stony and chiseled finish exhibiting excellent persistence on the bone-dry finish. This is class in a glass and a stunning rendition of the appellation though note well that at least moderate patience is strongly advised. Drink: 2030+. (Nov 2020)"

93-95 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2018 Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 1er Cru is bright and finely cut, with tremendous energy, as the best wines from this site tend to be. Citrus peel, crushed rocks mint and white pepper add striking layers of nuance and tension. The 2018 is going to need at least a handful of years to enter its sweet spot, but it shows tremendous promise and tons of personality. (Jan 2020)"

92-95 points Jasper Morris, MW: "Clear bright colour with a green tint. There is volume here but it is not insistent. This builds beautifully to the back, with a touch of bitters to counterbalance the undoubted ripeness of the grape which is doing the dance of the seven veils. (May 2019)"

94+ points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "It was interesting that Maxim chose to show the Montée de Tonnerre ahead of the Butteaux this year, which I took not to be a reflection of what he felt of the relative merits of the two wines in 2018, but rather, that as Butteaux has that parcel of really old, high quality vines in it as well, it should have the place of honor and be served last amongst the premier crus. The 2018 Montée de Tonnerre is a stunning wine in the making, soaring from the glass in a complex blend of lemon, pear, beeswax, chalky minerality, a touch of straw and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, beautifully-balanced and shows off great purity, with a rock solid core, snappy acids and laser-like focus and excellent grip on the very, very long and complex finish. Drinking Window: 2024-2065. (Nov/Dec 2019)"
