99 points/'#15 Enthusiast 100 2020,' Wine Enthusiast: "Only the third vintage by this producer from a spectacular site, this elegant wine is brimming in tension and length. Delicate layers of Meyer lemon, Gravenstein apple and pear show an abundance on the palate, seasoned in salty oak, nutmeg and a hint of cardamom. Alcohol 13.5%. (Dec 2020)"

96 points Jeb Dunnuck: "From another awesome vineyard in the Russian River, the 2017 Chardonnay Rochioli Vineyard is one of the richer, more powerful Chardonnay in the lineup. Medium gold-colored, with notes of sautéed orchard fruits, brioche, honeysuckle, and lemon curd, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, good acidity, and a mouthfilling texture that keeps you coming back. It actually gains freshness and vibrancy with time in the glass and is another age-worthy, brilliant Chardonnay from Ramey I'd be happy to have in the cellar. (5/21/20)"

94 points International Wine Report: "The 2017 Rochioli Vineyard Chardonnay is an exceptional release from Ramey in this vintage. Composed from a clonal blend which consists of 74% from Mid-40 block (Clones 4 & 76), 19% River block (Clone 5) and 7% Allen Vineyard (Clone 76). The result is a fabulous Chardonnay that is layered and focused, offering inviting aromas of lemon oil, Asian Pear, white florals and a lovely underlying mineral character of crushed stones all taking shape in the glass. On the palate this possesses a beautiful round texture, with a deep core of delicious fruit, which is balanced by a perfect touch of acidity to add a sense of freshness through the finsh. This is a sensatioal showing from David Ramey that certainly impresses today, however it should also go on to drink beautifully with some additional bottle age. Drink: 2020-2029. (Oct 2020)"

93 points Erin Brooks (Wine Advocate): "The 2017 Chardonnay Rochioli Vineyard opens with toasty apples, gunflint, dried hay and a minerally undercurrent. Light to medium-bodied, the palate is super energetic with mineral-laced fruits, bright freshness and a long, textured finish. 766 cases produced. Drink: 2020-2026. (Jul 2020)"

93 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2017 Chardonnay Rochioli Vineyard is overt, bold and racy. Orange confit, mint, butter, passionfruit and tropical overtones all meld together in this unctuous, flamboyant Chardonnay. This is a powerful, rich and deep wine that could use a bit of time in bottle to come around. Drink: 2020-2027. (Apr 2020)"

Producer notes: "The 2017 Rochioli blend is 74% from Mid-40 block, 19% River block and 7% Allen Vineyard, which the Rochiolis have farmed for many years. The soil here is Yolo sandy loam and overwash, derived from sedimentary formation in alluvial fans. Winemaking: We gently press whole clusters for phenolic delicacy. Native yeast and full native malolactic fermentation take place in barrel, with sur lies bâtonnage. Winemaker Notes: After aging 20 months in 20% new François Frères and Taransaud Beaune French oak barrels, this Chardonnay was fined and settled in tank following the next harvest. It was then bottled without filtration. 766 cases produced. Alcohol 13.5%."
