95 points Mosel Fine Wines: "The 2021er Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese is really restrained and almost non-saying at this early stage, but already hints at the complexity to come as it reveals after a few minutes very delicate notes of whipped almond cream, lily flowers, vineyard peach, minty herbs, smoke, candied grapefruit, and quite some fine spices. The wine proves creamy yet intense and dynamic on the palate. It proves very focused and already hugely long. However, it is stunningly complex already on both the nose and palate, with the bouquet soaring from the glass in a mix of pear, white cherry, a beautiful foundation of grey slate, vanilla bean, apple blossoms, white lilies and bee pollen. On the palate the wine is medium-full, delicate in personality and complex, with bouncy acids, lovely intensity of flavor, excellent mineral underpinning and a very, very long, pure and nascently complex finish. The inherent elegance of the 2021 vintage has really worked its magic on this wine! 2029-2075. (Mar/Apr 2023)"
