95 points Fine Wine Review: "The vintage at Prüm is typically iconic: balanced, deep, and pure. Along with Willi Schaefer, this is the estate of the vintage in the Mosel Valley itself... The Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese also is virtually dry, but with more weight than the Kabinett version of this wine. It shows vanilla and peach flavors that are fleshy and have depth. (Issue #142; 2014)"

94 points John Gilman (View From The Cellar): "With the cool and classic 2012 vintage, we have a glimpse of the Himmelreich Spätlese that is probably a bit more akin to where the 2016 will be headed stylistically. This is a beautiful wine already, but I would try to give it at least a few more years in the cellar to allow its secondary layers to emerge more emphatically. The bouquet is complex and vibrant, offering up scents of pear, green apple, lilacs, petrol, slate and a floral topnote redolent of lemon blossoms. On the palate the wine is medium-full, bright and opening up beautifully, with lovely depth and complexity, superb mineral drive on the very long backend and really lovely acidity and grip. Just a beauty. 2020-2050. (Mar/Apr 2018)"

93 points Stephan Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): "The 2012 Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Spätlese (AP #03 14) starts clear, ripe and flinty on the nose and reveals a very pure but concentrated and intense bouquet with crushed black chocolate aromas, lemon and grapefruit flavors. Sweet, piquant and juicy on the palate, this is a very elegant mouthful of wine with good expression and complexity and a fresh and salty finish. Its aging potential is terrific. If you like your Spätlese rather lean, fresh and piquant you should definitely try this Himmelreich. (Feb 2015)"

93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "We finished with the 2012 Graacher Himmelreich Spätlese from Joh. Jos. Prüm. This is complex and engaging on the nose with scents of yellow plum, nectarine, linseed oil and orange pith, all beautifully defined. The palate was on the sweeter side of the Spätlese spectrum, which is exactly what I wanted. Slightly viscous on the entry, this is succinctly balanced with just enough acidic bite, poised and spicy towards the lingering finish. It seems to be in a perfect place after a decade, though it will give another decade’s drinking pleasure. Drink: 2022-2036. (Aug 2022)"

92 points Wine Spectator: "A rich, minerally style, with loads of crunchy apple, ripe citrus and savory herbal flavors that are enhanced by lively acidity. Well-sculpted, offering a finish that echoes with clove and allspice details. Drink now through 2038. (10/15/14)"
