98 points Stephan Reinhardt (Wine Advocate): "The 2020 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese is intense and complex on the still introverted but complex nose that shows clear, bright fruit aromas (baby pineapple) intermingled with fine, flinty slate notes. What an aristocratic appearance! Round, crystalline and saline on the palate, this 2020 Auslese is much more openhearted and fruity as well as frisky and frivolous than it pretends to be on the nose. This is a really Catholic Riesling or a picture-book Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese. Its finish, however, is Protestant: rigorously linear, straight and with serious structure and grip. All in all, this is the world's most ecumenical Sonnenuhr. Pure fascination. 7% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine from AP 38 21 in July 2022. Drink: 2022-2090. (Aug 2022)"

96 points John Gilman (View From the Cellar): "The 2020 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese AP #20 from the Prüm family is every bit as beautiful as the Himmelreich. The bouquet is the quintessence of this great terroir, offering up a complex constellation of pear, apple, white cherry, vanilla bean, a hint of honeycomb, a gorgeous base of slate and a topnote of orange blossoms. On the palate the wine is deep, pure and bouncy, with excellent acidity, laser-like focus, excellent balance and grip and a very, very long, youthful finish. This is more tightly-knit out of the blocks than the already perfectly delineated Himmelreich, but it is every bit as stunning. 2035-2100+. (Jan/Feb 2022)"

94 points Mosel Fine Wines: "The 2020er Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese offers a gorgeously attractive and ripe nose of almond cream, honeyed peach, smoke, tangerine, orange zest, candied grapefruit, and apricot. The wine is luscious and proves well on the sweet side on the palate. There is presence and intensity, yet the finish is already airier and more refined than what one could initially expect. Patience will be required, as usual, for the wine to develop its full complexity and integrate all its elements. 2035-2050. (Nov 2021)"

93 points Bruce Sanderson (Wine Spectator): "An elegant wine, savory and succulent, with creamed pear and fleshy lychee upheld by racy acidity. Dense and layered, this is also light on its feet, with pink grapefruit adding a vibrant bitter edge. Drink now through 2040. 110 cases imported. (10/31/22)"
