96 points and 'Cellar Selection,' Wine Enthusiast: "[$115 list] This rich, full-bodied Champagne is a classic from this producer. Its richness is emphasized by ripe Pinot Noir that dominates the blend, typical of the house style. A blend of grand and premier cru wines from across the Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs, this wine will age much further. Drink from 2022. Alcohol 12.5%. (Dec 2019)"
95 points Tyson Stelzer (The Champagne Guide): "(disgorged 14 February 2019; 40% chardonnay, 60% pinot noir; 20 grand and premier crus of the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs; 7g/L dosage). This cuvée has been a mainstay of my personal champagne cellar longer than any other, and I still have many vintages since the early 1990s tucked away. The 2012 vintage is poised to go down among the great, enduring seasons for this regal house. Following the release of the sublime 2008, Pol Roger’s Vintage Brut 2009 came and went (read on), the challenging 2010 and 2011 seasons were tactically and astutely side-stepped, and it is back on form in the energetic 2012 vintage. Pol Roger claims seven years on lees, but its first release that I am tasting at the beginning of its release cycle could not have been more than six – a short time in the lineage of Pol. The result is consequently youthful and vibrant, a celebration of crunchy strawberry hull, red apple and fresh lemon, with lees age lending subtle touches of almond nougat. Elegantly poised pinot noir takes its signature lead, confidently supported by the citrus cut and refined chalk mineral texture of chardonnay. All of the beguiling purity of Pol Roger is on grand display in this electric season, and it holds its own effortlessly on a very long finish of great line and drive. It has a grand future before it, and will only become more enticing over the coming decade. (2020-2021)"
94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Disgorged in October 2018, the 2012 Brut Vintage offers up aromas of smoky peach, apples, pastry cream, white flowers and mandarin. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, broad and powerful, with more volume and amplitude than its blanc de blancs counterpart, revealing racy balancing acids, an already refined mousse and the impressive concentration that typifies this low-yielding vintage. It's a classic blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay that saw seven grams per liter dosage. Drink: 2020-2045. (Apr 2019)"
94 points Simon Field, MW (Decanter): " As usual the vintage is a 60/40 blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, but, unsurprisingly in such a superb Pinot year as 2012, the dark fruits are in the ascendant, evidenced initially by the burnished gold colour, then by a nose which is rich and gently savoury and finally by a resplendent palate which rehearses encyclopaedic appraisal of all the virtues of this great region, in a year when the climate has elicited dramatic tension to propel the bubbles. Plum, stone fruit, kumquat, gingerbread and toffee apple challenge and inspire in turn; the finish, as usual with Pol, has a saline purity to leaven the indulgence that has gone before it and to ensure a soft, satisfying landing. Drink: 2021-2030. (Oct 2020)"
94 points James Suckling: "Harmonious and straight with clarity and beauty to the wine. Cooked-apple and light honey aromas and flavors. Full body. Such balance and creaminess to the texture and weight. Lovely now. (9/2/19)"
