97 points Wine Enthusiast: "This Champagne produced from Grand Cru grapes is rich, the Pinot Noir shining with its structure and ripe white fruits. Because of the low dosage, the wine's acidity is prominent, so it will be worth giving it more time. Drink from 2022. Alcohol 12%. (Dec 2021)"

94 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Disgorged in March 2021 with 4.5 grams per liter dosage, Philipponnat's 2014 Extra-Brut Grand Cru Cuvée 1522 exhibits aromas of crisp yellow apples, stone fruit, buttery pastry and citrus oil. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and elegantly vinous, with a layered core of fruit, bright girdling acids and a seamless profile, it's beautifully balanced and should age with considerable grace. As I've written before, this cuvée derives its name from the year in which the Philipponnat family settled in Ay, and it's intended to foreground the virtues of the wines of that village. Drink: 2021-2041. (Sep 2021)"

94 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2014 Extra-Brut Cuvée 1522 is terrific. Bright and finely cut, the 2014 is immediately full of charm, starting with a bouquet that is absolutely beguiling. Dried pear, chamomile, mint and orange peel lend quite a bit of nuance, but it is the wine's energy and bright acids that I find most attractive. Dosage is 4.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: March, 2021. (Nov 2021)"

94 points John Gilman (View From The Cellar): "The 2014 vintage of Philipponnat’s cuvée “1522” is absolutely brilliant. The wine’s cépages this year is eighty-one percent pinot noir and nineteen percent chardonnay, with the majority of the fruit hailing from the Le Léon vineyard in Aÿ. The wine was disgorged in March of 2021 after fully six years aging sur latte and finished with a dosage of 4.5 grams per liter. It delivers a truly refined bouquet of apple, white peach, a hint of orange zest, a complex base of chalky minerality, fresh-baked bread and a gently smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and shows off excellent mid-palate depth, with lovely focus and grip, outstanding mineral drive, refined mousse and a long, complex and perfectly balanced finish. This is stellar juice and the finest iteration of cuvée 1522 I have yet tasted from Philipponnat! 2021-2050. (Sep-Oct 2021)"

93 points Allen Meadows (Burghound): "(81% pinot noir, 19% chardonnay, disgorged February 2021, 4.5 g/L). Pretty and distinctly yeasty aromas are comprised by notes of freshly sliced apple, a plethora of citrus elements and lovely floral top notes. There is good intensity to the highly attractively textured medium-bodied flavors that are shaped by a dense but fine effervescence on the clean and very dry yet not especially austere finale. This understated, pure and elegant wine is still developing though it’s already so good that it would not be a crime to enjoy it now. Worth checking out. 93/2024+. (Apr 2022)"

92 points Wine Spectator: "[$152 list] Opens with a clear chime of lemon curd flavor, both tangy and creamy on the palate, and layered alongside a smoky mineral undertow, with notes of dried cherry and roasted nut. This savory version is clean-cut, lightly juicy throughout and would pair well with food, try mussels or other shellfish. Chalky finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Disgorged March 2021. Best from 2023 through 2029. 1,000 cases made, 50 cases imported. (11/15/21)"
