99 points Wine Enthusiast: "The new release of this Champagne is impressively stylish. It comes from a vertiginous vineyard facing north across the Marne river, the soil producing a wine with intense minerality and texture that demands time to soften. So, the blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay is set for further aging. Ideally, wait for this magnificent wine until 2025. Alcohol 12.5%. (Dec 2022)"

98+ points Sarah Mayo (The Wine Independent): "A finely cut vinous gem, the Philipponnat Clos des Goisses 2013 Extra Brut is imbued with exceptional finesse owing to the cooler, and later 2013 vintage conditions that allowed a smaller than usual crop from an already low-yielding, old vines Clos to ripen slowly and gain tremendous depth and fruit intensity. The final blend of 85% Pinot Noir and 15% Chardonnay has a little more Pinot Noir than usual for the Clos cuvée, and a higher than normal 50% was fermented in oak barrel with no malolactic fermentation. With more than a year of post-disgorgement bottle age at the time of tasting, this 2013 shows gorgeous, honeyed aromas that twine around dense stone fruit, pomegranate, butter pastry and lemon oil with an ephemeral chalky note. The full-bodied, similarly honeyed palate is luminous with supple freshness and satiny acid intensity that seamlessly glides through layers of red fruit on to a very crisp, chalk-laced finish. Exceptional. Disgorged in March 2022, it was finished Extra Brut with a 4.5 gram per liter dosage. (11/8/23)"

98 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): "The 2013 Extra-Brut Clos des Goisses is fabulous. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2013 is in no mood to show all its cards. The late harvest produced a bristling, intensely saline Clos des Goisses that will require years to be at its best. Even so, its depth, textural resonance and finish are so evocative as to what the future holds. The 2013 is a positively stunning Champagne and one of the best Goisses in recent memory. I can't wait to see how it develops. Dosage is 4.5 grams per liter. Drink: 2031-2053. (May 2022)"

98 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "Surpassing even the 2012 and 2008, Philipponnat's 2013 Extra-Brut Clos des Goisses looks to be the finest vintage of this cuvée in several decades, at least on first acquaintance. Deriving from only the six core parcels out of the 13 that make up the Clos des Goisses, it's a striking wine, evoking aromas of crisp yellow orchard fruit, Anjou pear, clear honey, bee pollen, stone fruit and iodine. Full-bodied, layered and vinous, its textural attack segues into a deep, concentrated and tightly wound mid-palate that's girdled by racy acids and chalky structure, before concluding with a long, saline finish. Why is it quite so good? It would appear that 2013 was the perfect storm: an early-ripening terroir in a cool, late vintage; moderately yielding Burgundian selections of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay that attained full maturity; and a willingness to make a strict selection have all come together to deliver a profound Clos des Goisses. Drink: 2025-2055. (Aug 2022)"

98 points Anne Krebiehl, MW (The World of Fine Wine): "There were 10,723 bottles made, the assemblage is 85% Pinot Noir with the rest Chardonnay, and the wine did not go through malolactic fermentation. It was disgorged in March 2022 with a dosage of 4.5g/l and will be shipped in the new year. A touch of smoke envelops hints of rosehip and rosehip tisane. More air brings incredible fruitiness, reminiscent of umeshu plum alongside an intense floral character and soft, airy sponge cake. The body, immediately statuesque, powerful but poised, has the same aromatic intensity that is made more apparent by the bright freshness of the year. The aftertaste has the spicy tang of maple syrup and a tingling top note of white pepper that accentuates the essential depth of fruit and an intrinsic saltiness. The foam is fine, and the autolysis is subtle but gains traction on the mid-palate and the long finish. (Issue 78; 2022)"

97 points Audrey Frick (JebDunnuck.com): "Tasting this a year later alongside the new release of 2014, the 2013 Champagne Clos des Goisses Extra Brut seems to be coming into its own. Composed of 85% Pinot Noir and the rest Chardonnay, and pouring a rich straw/copper hue, it’s starting to show lovely, layered aromatics as it unfolds with scents of red berries, currant, toasted croissant, frangipane, and orgeat. Full-bodied, assertive, and long on the palate, it has driving, assertive energy with fantastic concentration and acidity. Though it has broad shoulders, it remains in check with itself and offers a long, fantastic finish. It has great structure and an angular feel, with notes of Meyer lemon preserves and orange rind, and delivers wonderful energy throughout. This can hold up through a meal of sweetbreads or other rich fare. 10,723 bottles were produced. Drink 2024-2055. Disgorged in March 2022, with 4.5 grams per liter dosage. Drink: 2024-2055. (11/17/23)"

97 points Bettane & Desseauve Guide (2024).

95-97 points Essi Avellan, MW: "This Clos des Goisses is brilliantly pure and refreshingly racy, thanks to the cool October harvest and blocking of the malolactic fermentation. The colour comes with a pale peachy hue. The nose is restrained with a cool elegance to it. 47% of the wine was born in barrels and the oakiness is refined in its perfect integration. Really youthful still both on the nose and the palate. The finish is intensely fruity and elegantly spicy. This one will take time in a graceful manner. (Sep 2023)"

96 points Tom Hewson (TimAtkin.com): "85% Pinot Noir and 15% Chardonnay from the celebrated site in Mareuil-sur-Äy. The second rather small release of Clos des Goisses in a row. 2013 is a different beast to 2012, though. Whilst 2012 showed an exhilarating compression of both ripeness and structure, the 2013 trades on a more graceful, natural sort of tension. It's still Clos des Goisses, though, explosive with ginger and allspice, fragrant with raspberry and anise, slightly wild with intense dried peach, pear and spiced apple. There's a delicate side (for Goisses), some bright clementine and grapefruit Chardonnay keeping it on its toes. A beautifully measured progression of acidity, not hard or detached like some 2013s. An exciting release. (2022)"

96 points La Revue du Vin de France: "Clos des Goisses 2013, while lacking the density of its year-old elder, retains its dimension, stature and plenitude, with the crystalline energy and tension of the vintage. It's a great bottle that will age beautifully, but it needs time. (2024)"
