93 points Neal Martin (Vinous): "The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Les Chalumaux 1er Cru comes from the oldest vines on the estate, planted in 1954. Now this has real complexity on the nose with intense malic fruit, fine mineralité and light sea spray nuances. The palate is well balanced with fine poise. This is a very elegant, suave Puligny that gentle unfolds on the finish, hints of blackcurrant leaf and nettle on the aftertaste. Excellent. Drink: 2024-2040. (Dec 2021)"

92 points Jasper Morris, MW (Inside Burgundy): "Pale lemon and lime colour. There is a little bit of toast here mixed in with the stonier style of Chalumeaux, while the fresh fruit comes up behind to take control. This vineyard is never going to be a blockbuster but I like the finesse. And more persistent than expected. Tasted: October 2021. (Dec 2021)"

92 points William Kelley (Wine Advocate): "The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Chalumeaux wafts from the glass with aromas of pear, freshly baked bread, clear honey and a deft touch of youthful reduction. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's open and expressive, with a satiny attack and an expansive finish. Drink: 2021-2037. (Jan 2022)"

Bill Nanson (Burgundy Report): "A more compact nose – there’s purity and even a faint warmth of spice. More composed yet fully mineral and mouth-watering – there’s mouth-filling volume here too – serious wine that I’d wait for but with much anticipation. Great finishing, really great finishing! (12/23/21)"

The Pernots' Les Chalumeaux were planted in 1964. Though fairly upslope, it's a warm site, and its wines tend to be rather supple and forward.
