This has a well-defined bouquet with hints of white chocolate and grilled walnut, very focused and tensile, a light sea spray aromas emerging with time in the glass. The palate is well-defined with a crisp line of acidity, taut and very fresh with one of Pernot’s most malic finishes. Great persistence here, this lingers in the mouth like a Caillerets should. Growing in flavour authority and concentration but never to the detriment of the balance of this wine. That’s great and will keep as long as you like / the cork allows – but that’s a great wine. This will almost certainly turn out to be one of the tautest, most incisive of these 2020s, due both to the vineyard itself—strewn with stones—and to the fact that the grower from whom Alvina and Philippe source this cuvée tends to pick on the earlier side.
